A belated introduction

I suppose, now that this site has been floating around on the internet for the last several years, that I should introduce myself a little better.

I'm a bit of a hermit, and a lot of a geek. I'm in my early 30s now, with a very precocious and talkative 6 year old girl called Aisha who you will find features heavily on this website, and a very quiet and introverted partner who occasionally pops up in the webcomic, much to his disgust. Just to prove the geek point, we met in an online roleplaying game back in 2004. Please don't hold that against me!

We all live on the edge of the South Australian desert, in a big stone house in the middle of a town with only 144 people in it. The local school is surprisingly good - it only has 25 students - and they even ordered in a whole stack of extra books when Aisha's reading went beyond the books available for the junior primary class. I'm doing my bit to increase the dwindling population, and at the time of writing I am 6-and-a-bit months pregnant with Aisha's little sibling.

I have a bit of a vested interest in sustainability and eco-friendliness, which is at war with the weather and lack of water here - I can't grow my own vegetables, as much as I'd like to. We've built a number of water-saving devices around the house and garden out of sheer necessity, at some point I might document them and put them on this website.

Anyway, that's the short version of my life, I'll let you get back to browsing the rest of this website now ...
