Paint is a liquid you can buy that you can use to change the colour of something. Paint goes on wet, so you need to wait for it to dry. Some paints come in small, dry blocks and you need to wet them with water to be able to use them. You use a paintbrush to paint with.

A parallelogram is a shape with four sides. A parallelogram looks like a rectangle that has been pushed sideways. Both pairs of opposite sides are parallel and the same length. The parallelogram in the picture is yellow.

The pear is the fruit of the pear tree. Pear trees are small deciduous trees growing to around 5-12 metres high. Pears may be green or yellow. Pears are closely related to apples but are softer, juicier and a different shape. You can eat all of the pear except the core in the middle, which is full of seeds.

A pencil is something that you use to write or draw with. Pencils are usually made from wood, with a thin strip of graphite (in a lead pencil) or coloured material. The end of the pencil will wear out as you use it, and you will need to sharpen it. Pens do not need sharpening.

Pigs have a large head, short legs and a large body. They eat almost anything, and spend most of their time digging through the ground with their snout looking for food. A male pig is called a boar, a female pig is called a sow and a baby pig is called a piglet. Pigs are generally kept for their meat, which is called pork.
